Tapestry of Love Ministries is a 501(c)3 ministering to children and families in Guatemala. We serve over 100 students ranging from preschool through middle school, holistically addressing their spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs. But God has given us a vision for so much more — our Ministry Expansion Project has eight phases to expand our ministry center in Guatemala.

We have already completed Phases 1 & 2! We were able to create 3 additional classrooms, 2 bathrooms, a multipurpose room, and a retaining wall. This has helped greatly with overcrowding in our classrooms!

Development Phases:

Phase 1

3 Classrooms

We built 3 additional classrooms to address overcrowding and create a better learning environment for our students — allowing us to reach even more children.

Phase 2

Multipurpose Room & Retaining Wall

We created a multipurpose room that serves our 15+ staff members for meetings, adult literacy classes, women's group meetings, and after-school tutoring. The retaining wall supports the expansion and current infrastructure.

Phase 3

High School Space — $250,000

The high school space will be built on top of the original portion of the school. This new addition will allow us to provide education to our high schoolers right here, rather than sending them to other schools in the community.

Phase 4

Missions House — $250,000

The TOLM Missions House will serve as a home base for TOLM Missionaries Marito & Kara and provide rooms for future children. It will also include several bedrooms and bathrooms to house mission teams and interns when they visit Guatemala. Currently we must limit team sizes because we don't have enough space to house everyone who wants to come.

Phase 5

Missions Center — $125,000

The missions center will be a two-level building. The lower level will host medical clinics for the community with examination rooms and offices — a vision held by our pastor, local church, and ministry for many years. The upper level will provide offices for staff (currently all staff share a single small office) plus flexible rooms for staff meetings, adult literacy classes, women's group meetings, after-school tutoring, and woodshop classes to help community members learn a trade and create sustainable income.

Phase 6

New Sanctuary — $200,000

We will build a new sanctuary for Mount Sinai Evangelical Mission Church, the local church we partner with in ministry. This new building will give the church the space it needs to continue growing and ministering to the community, and will also include a baptistry.

Phase 7

Transform Former Sanctuary into 6-8 Classrooms — $25,000

After the new sanctuary is built, we will divide the former sanctuary into 6-8 classrooms, updating the electricity and making any needed repairs. These classrooms can be used by both the school and the church. Our desire is to include a library, science lab, and computer lab to enrich the education we provide to our students.

Phase 8

Multipurpose Athletic Center & Parking Lot — $35,000

The multipurpose athletic center will serve the school, the church, and outreach activities. God gave us a vision years ago for a Sports Program to reach children in Magdalena and the surrounding communities — this center will allow us to begin that program. We also plan to hold Vacation Bible School here and offer a free exercise program teaching nutrition, hygiene, and physical wellness. The parking lot will provide space for staff, church members, and visitors.

Nutrition Program

Tapestry of Love Ministries established the nutrition program in 2016 to support the malnutrition of many students that were attending Mount Sinai Christian School. We had seen the physical needs of the children and we felt led to do something to improve their state of health. In the process of planning various aspects of the potential program, God provided a special resource (Manna Packs). Mount Sinai Evangelical Mission Church began a partnership with another Christian organization in Guatemala, called CRI, to receive this special donation of rice packs. The MannaPack Rice is an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates and key nutrients culturally acceptable worldwide for anyone over the age of one. The church has connected to MSCS as well as other local public schools.

At Mount Sinai Christian School, we supplement this with vegetables, tortillas, and pure water so that we are able to serve the children a complete meal. This partnership has been a blessing for our students and many other children in the community. We have seen improvements in the students’ health including, height, weight, and defenses. Additionally, in the future, we would like to serve Incaparina to students in the morning. Incaparina is a nutritious vitamin drink that would be especially beneficial to many of our students that do not get good breakfasts. TOLM desires to develop a more effective health follow-up. It is important for us to have better control, exact records, check-ups, funding for more meals throughout the week, and consistency to achieve holistically ministering to the needs of our students.

Women's Group

“Mujeres Virtuosas” (Virtuous Women) is the name of a special women’s group TOLM is currently ministering to. This group was founded in 1994 to allow for economic and spiritual growth within the women living in rural Magdalena, Guatemala. Projects were then developed to help the women have some income for their families. The main projects were chicken coups and pig corrals. During these past years, the women formed a meeting time to have accountability, learn to save money, and grow in their faith.

Every 15 days, the women would gather to turn in their savings portion within the group and only one women would receive each meeting. In this way, the women were able to learn to invest in creating or building their small business or project by saving each month and then receiving when their number was called. In 2017, God laid on our heart to support this group. Every two weeks we meet with them and work alongside them.

We worship, pray, participate in fun activities and learn from God’s word as a message or devotions are shared. Over time, many of the projects or businesses have become broken or rusted with ware. As a ministry, we desire to begin and revitalize projects the women had before and possibly begin a few new business-minded projects. We must identify the needs that the women have and then, orient them in such a way, that this ministry will impact their lives holistically. We are eager to see God touch their hearts and transform their lives.

Sports Program

For quite some time, Tapestry of Love Ministries has dreamed about creating a sports club ministry. We have prayed for guidance and direction, for the Lord to show us how we should form a long-lasting, effective program that would truly reach out to the children of this community. Our hope is to use sports, with a focus in soccer and cheerleading, as an open door to share Jesus with the local children. Many kids in Magdalena love sports. We see this as an opportunity to build a bridge between sports and physical activity with evangelism.

Children will be able learn and play sports while learning about God, memorizing scripture, reading the Bible, and learning how to have a real relationship with Jesus. We know the Lord will bring about change in their lives as we plant the seeds of God’s love and His word in their hearts. TOLM is excited to see this ministry project launch and develop to reach and disciple the beautiful children of Guatemala.
